Teaching Experience

Oldham College

Performing Arts (Technical Theatre)- UAL levels 2, 3, & 4 (2022-2023)

This course taught the theory and techniques in the areas of stage scenery, properties, lighting, sound, construction, rigging safety, tools, materials, and equipment. Students were also responsible for being the technicians of the plays produced that term.  This class was co-taught by myself and an adjunct faculty member.

Contra Costa College

Drama 106- Technical Theatre / Stagecraft (2016-2017)

This course taught the theory and techniques in the areas of stage scenery, properties, lighting, sound, construction, rigging safety, tools, materials, and equipment. Students were also responsible for being the technicians of the plays produced that semester.  This class was co-taught by myself and an adjunct faculty member.

San Francisco State University

TH A 205 [01]- Introduction to Technical Theatre and Design (2011)

This course taught the theory and techniques in the areas of stage scenery, properties, costuming, make-up, lighting, and sound. Construction, rigging safety, tools, materials, and equipment.  I stepped in as the instructor for this course for the first month of classes while the main instructor was on maternity leave in the fall semester of 2011.

Th A 504 [01] / Th A 804 [01] – Historical Styles for Theater: Prehistory to 1700 (2011)

This course taught World history of decor, costume, ornament, architecture, and theatrical design; periods with significant dramatic literature canons and/or influential cultural contributions. Visual research methods. (Undergraduate TH A 504 / Graduate TH A 804). As a master’s student, I helped to organize daily quizzes and taught a lecture on ancient Roman art and architecture in the fall semester of 2011.

TH A 609 [01] – Theatre Design and Computers (2010-2011)

This course taught students the 2D and 3D aspects of Vectorworks 2010 and 2011 (with respect to the year taught) that are commonly used for theatre scenic and lighting designs, which included a final project to design, skin and light multiple scenes from a play.  As a master’s student, I taught the 3D and skin properties of Vectorworks in the spring semesters of 2010 and 2011.
