Theatre & Digital Technician Sept 2022 – Present

Operates as the theatre technician for Oldham College, assisting instruction of further education students in facilitating lighting, sound, and audio/visual equipment. Co-teaching a group of 2nd, 3rd, & 4th level students and assisting in productions. Also acting as a digital technician, fixing, rebuilding, and preparing computers and networking equipment for IT students.

HEAD OF STAGE & AUTOMATION / STAGE LEAD May 2018 ­– Sept 2022

Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, United Kingdom

Lead the Stage department in all its activities and work with the wider company, particularly the other production departments in realising projects, builds and automated scenic elements. Streamlining the process of hire and retention of skilled casual workers with emphasis on upskilling young and/or under-skilled workers.  

THEATER STAGING SPECIALIST Jan 2016 – Dec 2017

Contra Costa College San Pablo, California

Operated as production manager, building manager, technical director, scenic designer, master carpenter, media designer and instructor for the John & Jean Knox Performing Arts Center. Oversaw a small crew of technicians and co-taught an intro to stagecraft class in a 340-seat venue for both internal drama, dance, and music productions as well as outside rentals. Updated an ageing infrastructure with LED lighting, reducing the energy consumption by the equivalent of ten average homes.

AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN Dec 2012 – Dec 2015

Norwegian Cruise Lines Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Atlantic

Utilized various automation consoles by Stage Technologies and EAE for a mixture of scenic shows, aerialist acts, and circus. Responsible as crew chief to oversee set changes and personnel. Was promoted from Stage Technician to Automation Technician to Technical Supervisor.

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR Mar 2014 – June 2014

Capital Stage Sacramento, California

Produced construction drawings from designs to create cut lists, estimate, and budget for construction costs. Oversaw small crew of carpenters/painters and built two sets while managing the budget and transporting lumber and goods.

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR June 2010 – Oct 2011

Marin Shakespeare Company San Rafael, California

Managed a crew of fourteen carpenters to construct a stage, a backstage area, and build a unit set. This included managing the budget for three productions over the summer. Started as a carpenter and was promoted to Technical Director for the next summer.

VARIOUS June 2002 – Sept 2012

California Musical Theater – Music Circus Sacramento, California

Undertook a variety of roles throughout the summer seasons for a 2,500-seat theatre-in-the-round: Intern, Operations Lead, Properties Purchaser, Assistant to the Technical Director, and Stage Door Security.
